Wholesale Manager Job Description

Castle Island Brewing Company is hiring a Wholesale Manager to lead our wholesale division. We believe beer should be inclusive, accessible and great, and we’re looking for a like-minded, goal-oriented, strategy-oriented individual with a passion to grow our wholesale business.

The Wholesale Manager reports to the President of the company and is responsible for managing the company’s wholesale channel and distribution partners. This role has revenue responsibility for the company’s distributed product and is responsible for developing and managing an annual sales plan to support the company’s stated goals. This position is largely self-directed and involves managing others on the wholesale team. This role requires autonomy, strong leadership, expert analysis and exemplary interpersonal skills, and must ensure accountability to internal and external business partners.

Current tasks

  • Lead the company’s wholesale division and wholesale team
  • Develop strategies to achieve company goals for wholesale volume and revenue
  • Manage relationships with distributors
  • Identify and negotiate relationships with new distribution partners
  • Manage relationships with retail chains and increase channel volume
  • Analyze market trends to identify areas for sales growth and increased distribution
  • Hold monthly and quarterly meetings with distributors to review trends and sales opportunities
  • Design incentive strategies for distributor sales teams and retail partners to drive sales growth
  • Collaborate with the operations department to ensure accurate wholesale forecasting and inventory management activities
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create wholesale programs, partnerships and activations
  • Represent the brand at wholesaler meetings, including sales meetings, annual business planning meetings and distributor sales team events
  • Develop reports and analytics in VIP/iDIG/Karma, 3-tier dashboards and other technology tools
  • Report to company management on sales trends, market developments, growth opportunities and competitive information
  • Define and manage the annual sales budget
  • Coach the inside sales team on sales strategies, sales analysis, creative problem solving and other techniques that can help increase sales
  • Represent the company at retail trade shows, trade shows, festivals, conferences, networking events and in the media

Job requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience managing wholesale beer distribution
  • Experience selling to retail chains
  • Local and regional sales experience
  • Previous experience leading, supervising and developing a team
  • Control of budgets, sales objectives and forecasts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has strong relationships with major customers and distributors
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Strong data analysis and experience with trade intelligence software (e.g. VIP, iDIG, Karma)
  • Ability and willingness to travel and visit distributors and key accounts weekly
  • Impeccable driving record and reliable vehicle required
  • Must be 21 or older

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Cash compensation range: $75,000 to $100,000 (includes base salary + annual performance-based bonus)
